A former Board Chairman of the Volta River Authority (VRA), , has called on the Minority Leader in Parliament, , to account for his tenure as the former Board Chairman of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), in light of the losses incurred during that period.

Speaking on TV3 on July 3, 2025, Dr Wereko-Brobby stated that only after Afenyo-Markin has taken accountability will he have the moral right to criticise the government over its implementation of the GH¢ 1 fuel levy. "The only thing I'll ask the Minority Leader is that he should account for his stewardship of ECG in 2023, 2024.

If he is able to account for the huge losses that ECG incurred under his stewardship, we may begin to listen to him," he stated.

Dr Wereko-Brobby went on to criticise the failure of the former management body to address the issues and take action to prevent the accumulation of the substantial debts that have plagued the institution.
