IMANI Africa President Franklin Cudjoe has expressed disappointment over reports suggesting that Inspector General of Police (IGP) George Akuffo Dampare has been dismissed from his position.
In a statement on Facebook reflecting both concern and skepticism, Cudjoe questioned the credibility of the reports and lamented the potential implications for Ghana's security and professionalism in law enforcement. "Well, difficult to know what to believe these days," he remarked, signaling uncertainty over the accuracy of the news.
Mr Cudjoe emphasized that Dampare has played a pivotal role in transforming the Ghana Police Service, rising through the ranks with professionalism and strengthening national security despite internal and external challenges. "It would be sad if someone who has been a true professional, risen through the ranks and changed the face of policing, enhanced our nation's security and crucially survived all daggers from within and outside the service would be relieved of his position without any adverse findings," he stated.
The IMANI President called for a commitment to professionalism over political interference, stressing that competent leaders should not be sacrificed on the altar of partisanship. "We must insist on professionalism instead of extreme partisanship.
