President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his commitment to restoring Ghana's macroeconomic stability and ensuring responsible public financial management.

Speaking at the 2025 National Economic Dialogue on Monday, March 3, President Mahama criticized the Bank of Ghana (BoG) for failing to operate as an independent monetary authority under the previous administration.

Instead, he argued, it became a financing tool for excessive government spending, contributing to inflation and currency depreciation.

He pledged to enforce strict fiscal discipline at all levels of government, prioritizing prudent financial management to alleviate economic hardship.
