Finance Minister, Dr.
Cassiel Ato Forson has warned that Ghana's current economic growth model is unsustainable and will fail to meet the country's long-term development needs if urgent reforms are not implemented.
Speaking at the opening of the National Economic Dialogue, Dr.
Ato Forson stressed the need for an immediate economic reset. "Your Excellency, the current growth model will not be sufficient to meet Ghana's needs and aspirations if nothing is done, and it will mean that we have to take an urgent step to correct this trend." He outlined a troubling forecast, revealing that under the current model, Ghana's economic growth is projected to decline to just 3.8% in less than 15 years, with GDP per capita growth shrinking to 2.4%.
