The government of Burkina Faso has placed a ban on the importation of cereals from its territory.

The list of cereals includes rice, millet, maize, sorghum, and white beans (cowpea) from its territory.

It is not clear why the ban is, but a notice from the Foreign Affairs Ministry issued on February 25, 2025, indicated that the ban was communicated in 2023 and 2024 but still stands.

Ghanaian traders who are involved in importing cereals from Burkina Faso have been advised to comply with the directive to avoid any form of sanctions.
