Liverpool head coach Arne Slot has acknowledged that "emotions got the better of me" after being sent off in Wednesday's Merseyside derby against Everton.

The Dutchman, 46, received a red card from referee Michael Oliver at full-time after confronting him on the pitch following Everton's dramatic 98th-minute equaliser in the 2-2 draw at Goodison Park.

The heated conclusion also saw Everton's Abdoulaye Doucoure and Liverpool's Curtis Jones dismissed after the final whistle.

Speaking on Friday, Slot refrained from commenting on his potential punishment, saying, "There is an ongoing process now, and I have to respect that." However, he admitted regret over his actions. "If I could do that differently, I would love to do that differently, and I hope to do that differently next time," he added.
