Fan Milk PLC, one of Ghana's leading dairy and beverage companies, has reached over 90,000 students with education on proper waste disposal and collected close to 3 million ice cream wrappers to be recycled and given a second life.
This was achieved through the recently concluded three-month-long FanMilk School Caravan: A Wrapper Collection Challenge, held annually to sensitise students on the importance of correct waste disposal and healthy snacking habits.
In a ceremony to conclude the 7th edition of this campaign and reward schools and students with the highest collection, Managing Director of FanMilk Ghana, Lionel Parent, highlighted the significance of the initiative, which began in 2018 in partnership with the Ghana Education Service (GES). "At FanMilk, we are dedicated to making a real difference in our communities and in the lives of our consumers and partners by focusing on our three Danone Impact Journey (DIJ) core pillars: health, nature, and people & communities.
To bring these pillars to life, we expanded the scope of the FanMilk School Caravan to include 50 more schools, reaching over 90, 000 students," he said. "Over the course of the campaign, FanMilk has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to promote good snacking habits together with proper sanitation and hygiene among school children.
