As part of its ongoing 15th anniversary celebrations, the Street Children Empowerment Foundation (SCEF) has continued its EmpowerGhana Smile Campaign, a long-running project to bring joy and essential items to vulnerable and school-going children in public schools.
Through the campaign, SCEF, in partnership with Send a Smile e.V. (Germany), have distributed 858 smile bags to vulnerable and school-going children in public schools in Ga South, Accra Metro, SCEF scholarship recipients, and Dabala, as well as to children residing at the Smile Boarding House, this year.
The bags contained essential items such as hygiene materials, clothing, school supplies, and sweet treats.
According to recent statistics, Ghana continues to grapple with the issue of child poverty and vulnerability, with thousands of children in need of support. "I was so happy when I got my smile bag," said Ama, a Primary 4 pupil and beneficiary of the EmpowerGhana Smile Campaign. "I got new clothes, shoes, and pencils.
