A protest at Nakpanduri, in the Bunkpurugu Constituency in the North East Region, turned violent as youth leaders from various groups led an angry demonstration over the recent ministerial appointments made by President John Dramani Mahama.
The protest, initially planned to express dissatisfaction with the exclusion of the constituency in the latest appointments, escalated when demonstrators burned car tyres and tore down NDC pavilions in the town.
The youth leaders, including persons identified as Peter Laar, Lambon Francis Yennebe, Konpetik Benjamin, Kombian Babotin, and Johnson Tankoruk, voiced their frustration at what they say is the party's disregard for Bunkpurugu's loyal support.
Despite the constituency's consistent backing of the NDC, especially since the return to constitutional rule in 1992, residents claim they have seen little in terms of development, including poor road conditions, limited access to clean water, and inadequate educational facilities.
