Anti-corruption campaigner, Vitus Azeem, has called for an investigation into the contract between the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation and the Ministry of Youth and Sports over the payment made for the media coverage of the 13th All African Games. This comes in the wake of a controversy sparked by comments made by the Minister for Youth and Sports, Mustapha Ussif, during a Public Accounts Committee (PAC) session on Monday, August 19, 2024. At the PAC sitting, the Sports Minister stated that the Ministry had paid GBC in excess of $3 million for its production and broadcasting services for the Games. Meanwhile, the Director-General of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC), Prof. Amin Alhassan disputed the claim by the Sports Minister stating that the state broadcaster was only paid $105, 000.
