Government has announced a significant reduction in the cost of the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage, lowering the fare from GH₵75,000 to GH₵62,000.

The decision is in fulfilment of a major campaign promise by President John Dramani Mahama and also to make the pilgrimage more accessible to Ghanaian Muslims.

At a press conference on Wednesday, February 5, the Chairman of the interim Hajj Taskforce, Collins Dauda, explained that the reduction followed successful negotiations with Saudi service providers. "During the 2024 election campaign, President Mahama pledged to make Hajj more affordable.

I am pleased to announce that he has honoured this commitment," Dauda stated.
