In the wake of the chaotic scenes that unfolded during the ministerial vetting process in Ghana's Parliament, the Special Committee appointed by Speaker Alhaji Bagbin has made it clear that its goal is not to target or witch-hunt any of the Members of Parliament (MPs).

Addressing the media on Monday, February 3, 2025, a member of the Committee emphasized that the committee's role is solely to gather evidence of any possible violations of Parliament's rules of engagement. "We are not here to witch-hunt any of our colleague members of Parliament.

This work is to look for evidence of any member of Parliament who may have flouted the rules of engagement in this House," the statement read.

The committee is urging members of the public and Parliament alike to support the process by sharing any relevant information to help facilitate a peaceful and productive environment within Parliament. "Hence, we are appealing to all and sundry to volunteer information that will help bring a lasting peace and collaborative spirit into the work of the Appointments Committee but ultimately to the entire House of Parliament," the committee spokesperson added.
