The Spain Branch of the (NDC) has raised concerns over the recent surge in violent crimes and general insecurity in Ghana, urging swift and decisive action from the relevant authorities to restore peace and public confidence in the state.
Speaking in an exclusive interview on July 28, 2025, the Secretary of the branch, Hanson Dartey, expressed worry over what he described as "a disturbing breakdown in law and order", citing recent incidents of targeted shootings, kidnappings, and the general fear that has gripped many communities across the country.
Dartey referenced the tragic killing of a Kusasi chief and his close friend in Kumasi, as well as the heart-wrenching shooting of high school students in Bawku, as clear indicators that "the country is facing an escalating security crisis." According to him, the recurrence of such deadly attacks points to a system struggling to contain criminal activities and protect innocent lives.
He emphasised that while crime exists in every society, the failure to act swiftly and decisively only emboldens perpetrators.
