The Minority Caucus in Parliament has strongly condemned the actions of Victoria Emeafa Hardcastle, Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Petroleum Commission, describing them as a direct assault on the dignity of Parliament.

According to the Minority, Hardcastle's behaviour during her interaction with the House leadership on January 28, 2025, was one of the most flagrant displays of contempt in recent memory.

Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin emphasized that Hardcastle's attempt to instruct Minority Chief Whip Frank Annoh-Dompreh on his parliamentary duties, coupled with her description of a senior MP as "silly," was unacceptable. "Such conduct strikes at the very foundation of our democracy and must be met with the full force of parliamentary sanctions," the Minority stated.

The matter, they noted, is even more concerning given that it comes just weeks after President Mahama urged his appointees to avoid arrogance and disrespect in public service.
