AFC Bournemouth captain Adam Smith spoke strongly against the racial abuse on Ghana striker Antoine Semenyo on Friday night after the team's defeat to Liverpool in the opening match of the 2025/26 English Premier League season.

Both Smith and Semenyo started the season's opening match played at Anfield today.

Thirty minutes into the first half, the match was halted by the referee after the Blak Stars striker reported an incident of racial abuse.

The abuse reportedly from a Liverpool fan occurred when Semenyo was effecting a throw-in.
