Social activist and legal practitioner, Oliver Barker-Vormawor, has issued a formal apology to the Appointments Committee of Parliament for a post he made on social media, which members of the committee interpreted as an attack on their reputation.
In his apology, Barker-Vormawor clarified that his post was never meant to tarnish the committee's image or accuse its members of engaging in corrupt practices.
He addressed the committee on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, saying, "Mr.
Chairman, I am saying here clearly that my post was not intended to disparage members of the committee and I have not intended to say that members of this committee have received or demanded bribes from various individuals.
