Ashanti Regional Minister-Designate, Dr.
Frank Amoakohene, has reaffirmed his commitment to completing the Kumasi Press Centre and ensuring its functionality.
During his vetting before Parliament's Appointments Committee on Monday, January 27, Dr Amoakohene highlighted the critical role of press freedom in holding governments accountable.
Responding to a question on press freedom from the Member of Parliament for Weija Gbawe, Jerry Ahmed, Dr Amoakohene stressed the need for a strong fourth estate and pledged to work with stakeholders to revive the press centre. "I will meet with the GJA [Ghana Journalists Association] and also the regional chapter leaders so we can put our heads together and, with the support of the central government, be able to restore the Kumasi Press Centre," he stated.
