The President of the Volta Regional House of Chiefs, Togbe Tepre Hodo IV, has called for the removal of immigration checkpoints at Asikuma and Juapong over alleged harassments by immigration officers.
According to a post by Citi FM on X on July 31, 2025, Togbe Hodo IV, in the company of other chiefs from the region, demanded the immediate removal of Ghana Immigration Service inland checkpoints at Asikuma and a police barrier at Juapong.
The call comes amidst allegations of harassments, intimidation, and disrespect from some officers stationed at these points. "It is very embarrassing.
When you're travelling in a bus and get to the checkpoint, they ask all commuters to alight and walk a long distance before they are allowed to board the bus again," Togbe Tepre Hodo IV said during a meeting at the Jubilee House.
