Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, the Minister-Designate for Lands and Natural Resources, has raised concerns about the role of political apparatchiks in mining activities, which he believes has significantly contributed to the destruction of Ghana's forest reserves.

During his appearance before the Appointments Committee of Parliament on January 27, Mr Armah-Kofi Buah expressed his dismay over the severe degradation of forest reserves, attributing it to the unchecked involvement of political figures in mining operations.

He refuted claims that international organizations mining in Ghanaian forest reserves were the primary cause of the destruction.

Instead, he emphasized that local political interference had been a major factor.
