Former Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Hannah Serwaa Tetteh has been appointed the United Nations Special Representative for Libya and Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL).

The announcement was made on January 25, 2025, through the United Nations' Facebook page in Ghana. "Congratulations to Ms.

Hannah Serwaa Tetteh of Ghana on her appointment by the United Nations António Guterres as his Special Representative for Libya and Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL)", the post read.

Hannah Tetteh is the 10th person to hold the position since 2011, succeeding Abdoulaye Bathily of Senegal, who served until May 2024.
