Education Minister-designate, Haruna Iddrisu, has said government will maintain the status quo of Ghanaian cultural values when considering the anti-LGBTQI bill.

Haruna Iddrisu made the statement when he appeared before the Appointments Committee on Monday, January 20, 2025 and was asked about his thoughts on President Mahama's recent comment about the bill.

The Tamale South MP further stated that he will engage the President on the bill to see the way forward while assuring Ghanaians that the Ghanaian cultural values will be preserved. "We are a country, we have our own values and we have preserved those values in the constitution and it is not for nothing that in the constitution you will always get words like subject to public morality, whose morality?

Ghana's defined morality. "Growing up, even with you if you went to school, you know where young ladies would go and where young boys would go, that is Ghanaian values, we will preserve that," he said.
