Western North Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Michael Aidoo, has clarified the role of the Western North MMDCEs Vetting Committee, which he chairs.
He said, the committee's mandate is not to select the Municipal or District Chief Executives, but rather to shortlist three candidates from each municipal or district that excel during the oral interview.
The committee then forwards the names of the shortlisted candidates to the President, who will subsequently set up a committee to nominate one person from each list to become a DCE or MCE.
Michael Aidoo stressed that the ultimate decision lies with the President, and not with the vetting committee.
