Governance expert Edem Senanu has called for a thorough examination of the implications of President Akufo-Addo's refusal to assent to the LGBTQ+ bill, which was passed by Parliament and submitted to the presidency on February 28, 2024.

Speaking in an interview with 3FM's Beatrice Adu on Midday News on January 14, 2025, Mr.

Senanu noted that the president's decision has raised critical questions about its potential impact on governance and legislative processes. "It's important to note that Parliament had completed its work and sent the bill to the president as required.

However, the president refused to assent to it, and we need to look into what the implications of this refusal are for future legislative procedures," he explained.
