Former South African President Jacob Zuma has called on African citizens to take a more active role in holding their leaders accountable and demanding better governance.

Speaking during an interview on Channel One TV's The Point of View with Bernard Avle, Mr.

Zuma expressed concern over the lack of public outcry against poor governance in many African countries.

He criticized what he described as the growing silence of both leaders and citizens in the face of issues that undermine progress on the continent.
