Members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have been urged by the party's National Council of Elders to halt all campaign activities for internal party positions.
This appeal comes in the aftermath of the party's loss of both the parliamentary majority and the presidential election in the December 7, 2024, polls.
In a statement signed by Hackman Owusu-Agyeman, Chairman of the NPP Council of Elders, the council expressed "deep concern" over ongoing campaigns by certain party executives, members, and sympathisers.
The council described these actions as counterproductive to the party's efforts to rebuild. "The elders of the party are deeply concerned about this development and wish to appeal to all our members and sympathisers to refrain from such activities, which do not help our effort to rebuild and energise the party following our 2024 disappointing electoral defeats," the statement read.
