A member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Legal Team, Lawyer Twum Barimah, has declared that the (NPP) faces a long road back to power, needing to "fight through three elections" before they can hope to close the 1.8 million-vote gap from their recent defeat.

Speaking on the Ghana Se Sen Morning Show on Lawson TV/Radio, Barimah dismissed claims that voter apathy was the reason for the NPP's loss. "Voter apathy is just an excuse," he said. "Look at the Ashanti Region-traditionally their stronghold-turnout was still around 60% to 80%.

The NPP's defeat was not about voter apathy.

It was about arrogance and a failure to listen to the people." Barimah emphasized that the NPP must reflect on their defeat and adopt humility. "This loss is a lesson for them," he added. "You don't take the electorate for granted and expect to win." The Electoral Commission (EC) officially declared the results of the 2024 presidential election on January 10, 2025.
