Dominic Ayine, the Attorney General and Justice Minister-Designate has defended the legitimacy of the government's newly established Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) team, describing it as a vital instrument for promoting accountability and reclaiming stolen state resources.
Ayine, the Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga East, made the defence during his vetting before Parliament's Appointments Committee on Monday, January 13, 2025.
The ORAL team, inaugurated on December 18, 2024, and chaired by Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, was set up to recover public funds and assets misappropriated by politically exposed persons.
Since its establishment, the team has faced criticism over its mandate and the perception that it lacks a traditional legal framework.
