John Abdulai Jinapor, the Energy Minister-Designate, has assured Ghanaians that the privatisation of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) will be handled with utmost transparency and fairness.

During his vetting before Parliament's Appointments Committee on Monday, January 13, Mr Jinapor firmly stated that the government will not resort to sole sourcing in the privatisation process.

He underscored the need for competitive bidding and public accountability in managing the state-owned power distributor, ensuring that any decisions made serve the best interests of Ghanaians. "We believe there should be private sector participation.

What we intend to do is to form a seven-member committee chaired by technical experts, legal experts, financial experts and some industry players.
