Ghana's President, John Dramani Mahama, has written to the Executive Director of the Lands Commission to halt the sale and processing of state and public lands.

A letter issued by the Executive Secretary of the President said the directive is to protect and preserve state and public lands for the collective benefit of the citizenry.

This move, according to the letter, will also help facilitate a comprehensive review of the current framework governing the management of such lands.

The Lands Commission has also been requested to submit a detailed report of all recent and ongoing transactions concerning state and public lands to the office of the president within fourteen days of the communication.
