A devastating fire tore through Accra's bustling Kantamanto Market in the early hours of Thursday, January 2, 2025, leaving traders in despair as over 100 shops were reduced to ashes.

The fire, which began around 1:19 a.m., has sparked investigations by the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) into its possible causes.

Preliminary findings by the GNFS suggest that the fire may have been triggered by faulty electrical connections, a recurring issue in the market.

However, officials have not ruled out the possibility of arson, adding an unsettling dimension to the tragedy.
