JoyNews investigative journalist, Erastus Asare Donkor, has stated that the prestigious Order of the Volta (Membership) Award conferred upon him by President Akufo-Addo would have been more meaningful if the issue of illegal mining, commonly known as galamsey, had been properly addressed by the government.
The award was given in recognition of his significant contribution to the national development of the country, particularly in the media landscape.
Mr Donkor is well-known for his fearless and credible reporting on illegal mining.
He was among several Ghanaians including the outgoing Vice President of Ghana, ministers of State and other outstanding private individuals who were decorated with awards on the day.
