Ghanaian sound engineer and singer, De Thompson DDT, has been taken aback by the unexpected viral success of his latest song, "Honorable Waawe." Following the December 7, 2024 elections, the song quickly became an internet sensation, topping charts on major digital streaming platforms and dominating social media spaces like TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube.
In an interview with Amansan Krakye, De Thompson DDT admitted that he never anticipated such overwhelming success, especially since he did no paid promotions or airplay.
He pointed out that the song's popularity grew organically, spreading through the streets and gaining traction among listeners without any financial push. "I haven't paid money to any DJ or presenter to play the song, but it's all over," he remarked, clearly astonished by its natural rise.
The success of "Honorable Waawe" has not only elevated his career locally but has also drawn attention to his talent beyond Ghana, making him a prominent figure in the music scene.
