An ardent political observer, Francis Mensah, has asserted that the jaw-dropping results of the parliamentary elections in the just-concluded general elections in the five constituencies of Greater Sekondi-Takoradi, which nonetheless saw the New Patriotic Party's candidate, Lawyer Isaac Boamah-Nyarko, escape defeat by a whisker, only meant he won largely because of the towering legacy of Member of Parliament Joseph Cudjoe.
Residents have, for each election cycle, received news of the New Patriotic Party annexing parliamentary seats without batting an eye.
However, 2024 proved different by giving the bookmakers little luck in envisaging or betting on such a sweeping victory for the opposition National Democratic Congress.
Francis Mensah, who has been following political events in Sekondi-Takoradi with a special focus on Effia, in an op-ed on the constituency's parliamentary election and subsequent outcome, argued that the embattled Member of Parliament-elect, Lawyer Isaac Boamah-Nyarko, owes his electoral success largely to a "strong foundation" created by Member of Parliament, Joseph Cudjoe. "In the last six years, Effia has witnessed significant development in various forms, be it human or infrastructure development, as well as targeted community interventions.
