At 6 pm on December 9, 2024, 48 hours after the close of polls on December 7, 2024, the Electoral Commission of Ghana declared as the president-elect of the Republic of Ghana.
The announcement, which was made by the EC Chairperson, Jean Mensah, at the EC Headquarters, saw Mahama win with 6,328,397 votes, representing 56.55% of the votes.
The declaration, which was broadcast live on TV, shared a split screen with a live view of President Mahama's residence.
The president-elect could be seen seated with his family, all clad in white as they closely followed the declaration.
