Flagbearer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has given a strong indication that he will partner with the private sector if given the power to lead Ghana as president.
He is of the firm belief that the private sector is the engine of growth of Ghana's economy, and the commitment of government to the sector will be good for the country's economic growth.
Among other things the NPP flagbearer wants to do to strengthen the private sector include, a new, friendly tax regime of tax amnesty to businesses, a simple and easy to understand flat tax rate, electronic and easy filing of taxes, flat import duty in Cedis, benchmarking import duty with neighbouring Togo, empowering the private sector-to-undertake public infrastructure projects, as well as abolishing the e-levy, among others.
He is of the strongest view that these will boost the private sector and in turn have a positive outlook on the country's economy.
