A leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Gabby Otchere-Darko doubts that the election results in the United States automatically influence Ghana's elections. He notes that if American election results automatically influenced Ghana a month after, President Akufo-Addo would have lost in 2020 and John Mahama would have had his second term but that did not happen. To that end, he has cautioned Ghanaians against over-reading the meanings of the US elections visa vi Ghana's elections.
To him, the conditions surrounding the US elections are different from what is happening in Ghana. In a post on his X page, he said that he became aware of a social media post about a voter describing Kamala Harris as "representing change".But he said, "We should be careful about over-reading into the US elections."Mr Octheer Darko explained that "Trump won in 2016.
John Mahama lost in 2016 to Akufo-Addo.
In 2020, Trump lost his attempt for a 2nd term (like Mahama in 2016).
