The 2024 Homowo Festival was a vibrant celebration of Ga culture and tradition, marked by grand festivities and a strong sense of unity. Hundreds of people returned home for the festival, which is celebrated to "hoot at hunger." Chiefs donned traditional red attire, while their entourages were beautifully dressed in their regalia to symbolize their victory over hunger. The festival kicked off with a grand procession led by the Gbese Mantse and Adonten of the Ga State, Nii Ayi Bonte II. As tradition dictates, they sprinkled kpekpoi (a special festival dish) on the principal streets of Accra, setting the stage for the festivities. Members of the British High Commission joined in the celebrations, participating in the traditional rites, and adding an international flair to the festival.
