Former President Donald Trump has declared victory in the 2024 presidential election, despite votes still being counted from about 11 states.

With projections showing Trump leading at 266 electoral votes, he needs just 4 more to reach the 270 required for the presidency.

Several world leaders have already extended their congratulations, recognizing him as the president-elect of the United States.

Speaking to a crowd of supporters at his campaign headquarters in West Palm Beach, Florida, Trump expressed his gratitude to Americans for what he called "an incredible mandate." He described the US presidency as "the most important job in the world" and attributed his recent survival from assassination attempts to divine intervention, saying that he is here to "heal the nation." Trump vowed to honour his campaign pledges, promising that his administration would operate under the motto: "Promises made, promises kept."
