The Member of Parliament for Zebilla, Ebenezer Alumire Ndebilla, has clarified the recent recruitment assurance made by the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno.

The IGP had promised the youth of prioritising their recruitment into the police service if they stopped their hostilities which the minority New Patriotic Party has strongly criticised.

But according to Ndebilla on the Channel one Newsroom on Friday April 11, the IGP's statement should not be misconstrued as a direct solution to the ongoing conflict in Bawku but rather as a broader commitment to creating opportunities for youth employment in the police service.

He noted, "I think the proposal by the IGP, I am not sure if it is specific to the Bawku youth, but I believe it is an assurance that as he assumes office, he is willing to recruit more of the youth into the security services." He emphasised that the IGP's remarks were not intended to suggest that the conflict in Bawku stems solely from unemployment.
