The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has clarified his widely discussed comment about police recruitment in Bawku, stating that it was not an offer of preferential treatment but a call for peace and inclusion.

His clarification follows public backlash over a video in which he appeared to suggest that youth in the conflict-prone area could gain entry into the police service if they laid down their arms.

Yohuno explained that his remarks were part of an effort to decentralize police recruitment and provide equal opportunities for residents in underserved and remote areas, including Bawku. "Many times, recruitment is centralised at the national headquarters, and we are not able to get the full benefit of a regional balance.
