Youth in Ghana have been cautioned against falling prey to the exploitative tactics of politicians in the few days ahead as the nation goes to the 2024 polls.Speaking during the "Ballot for Peace" campaign in Techiman, Bono East Region, the vice-president of the US-Ghana Alumni Association, Professor Yunus Dumbe, emphasized the importance of voter education to prevent the manipulation of young people for selfish political agendas.The US-Ghana Alumni Association has embarked on a campaign called "Ballot for Peace" to educate voters, particularly the youth, on the importance of being vigilant against political exploitation.The campaign aims to empower the youth to make informed choices during elections and to avoid being manipulated by politicians who may have ulterior motives.Vice-president of the US-Ghana Alumni Association, Professor Yunus Dumbe, stressed the need for voters especially the young people to be aware of the tactics used by politicians to manipulate them for their own gain."We must educate our youth to understand that they should not allow themselves to be used by politicians for their parochial interests.
It is important for them to make informed decisions and not be swayed by empty promises or divisive tactics."The theme of the event was "Empowering Ghana through voter education for peaceful election", emphasizing the crucial role that educated and informed voters play in maintaining a stable and democratic society.The ballot for peace project is being embarked in three zones across the country, that is the Northern Zone, Southern Zone and the Middle Zone.Chairman of the Bono East Regional Peace Council, Reverend Prince Owusu-Asaku, implored voters not to sell their conscience to politicians to enable them to achieve their selfish agenda." If you are offered something mind you you you're selling your conscience for four years so you would have no quams to complain because you've sold your conscience."On his part a Civic Education Officer at the Techmiman Municipal National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Fred Frimpong, emphasized that their outfit would ensure to correct all anomalies of the previous elections for a successful and peaceful 2024 election in the Techmiman South constituency."
