A tragic accident occurred on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, along the Akropong-Dabaa road, when a vehicle lost control and plunged into the Owabi River, claiming the lives of four occupants, including a mother and her child.

The incident reportedly took place as the mother was driving her children to school, allowing her neighbours to join for convenience.   Eyewitnesses say the vehicle, en route from Dabaa to Akropong, veered off the main road, overturned, and ultimately crashed into the river.

The deceased have been identified as 40-year-old seamstress Helena, 28-year-old plumber Boamah Gyasi Eric, 10-year-old pupil Lordina Yasan, and 41-year-old teacher Rita Agyare.

Local divers and community members conducted rescue efforts and performed traditional rituals at the scene in an attempt to honour the deceased.
