When 20-year-old Fauzia Ali graduated from the Serwaa Kesse Girls Senior High School in the Ahafo Region, she had high hopes of becoming a medical doctor.

Fueled by her passion for saving lives and helping the vulnerable in society, especially given her humble background, her dream should have been attainable following her excellent grades in the 2023 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

With a distinction in Integrated Science, which secured her admission into the six-year MBChB (Medicine) Undergraduate Programme at the University for Development Studies (UDS) in Tamale, she was on the road to achieving her dream.

However, her excitement soon turned into a nightmare as her mother, Zainab Ali, was unable to raise the GH¢10,000 needed for her daughter's admission and initial expenses.
