The newly-appointed Commissioner of the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), Brigadier General Zimbrim Bawah Ayarroga, has warned that some staff of the organization who engage in corrupt deals would be severely punished when caught.He emphasized that the GRA is currently engaged in building its image to maximize revenue collection and he encouraged the media to give a helping hand by exposing officers of the GRA with proven evidence of malfeasance to be disciplined.Brigadier General Zimbrim Bawah Ayarroga stressed the issues at a media forum at Sunyani on Thursday, October 24 after completing a three-day working tour of the collection covering the Bono, Bono East and Ahafo Regions to interact with staff, inspect facilities and discuss operational issues affecting the collection.He asserted that revenue generation from tax is the basis for national development and he encouraged his staff to use the laid down sound approaches to help traders and the business community live up to their tax responsibilities.Reacting to some misgivings expressed by the media the commissioner emphasized that capacity building, discipline and professionalism are part of the measures being embarked upon to improve the service.Brig.
