Ghanaian highlife artiste, Ofori Amponsah has admitted to the current financial crisis in the country. However, the artiste who has declared his support for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) believes that the crisis are not as a result of economic mismanagement rather external shocks."What we are facing as a country is external shocks.
It's true, I did economics in school so I know it," he said on October 20, 2024.Ofori Amponsah explained that the economic crisis cannot be fixed by just one political party, emphasising the need for a collective effort to salvage the economy."Every country goes through financial challenges and Ghana, this is the time we are going through it and we don't have to give up because no one particular person can fix it unless this whole country we come together and fix it, it's not fixable."For example, maybe today the dollar rate is GHC16, Mahama will come and it will be GHC25.
Another will come and it will increase…we have to do an introspection as a people so that we know what exactly is ailing our economy."I think one party cannot do it; we have to come together to fix this country," he noted.Speaking in an interview on The Day Show with Berla Mundi, the 'Otoolege' hitmaker bemoaned the alarming rate of Ghanaians travelling to the West for greener pastures.According to him, there are many opportunities in Ghana that the youth can leverage on."When I see people in ship going to Italy and stuff, I cry in my heart because there are so much opportunities in this country that people don't see."When it comes to farming, there's a lot but people actually don't love what will bring them money.
Everyone will cut corners for money and when everybody is cutting corners for money, what economy do we have?" he added.
