A District Magistrate Court in Agona Swedru, Central Region, has issued an injunction blocking Cynthia Morrison from running as an independent candidate for the Agona West parliamentary seat.
This ruling will remain in effect until an ongoing legal case is fully resolved.
Morrison, who previously represented the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in 2016 and 2020, opted for an independent candidacy after alleging unfair treatment during the party's internal primary for the 2024 election.
She made her announcement about three months ago, following her defeat in the NPP's parliamentary primary, where she received 152 votes compared to Christopher Arthur's 240.
