The Atiwa West District Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has urged citizens to play a crucial role in maintaining peace and calm during and after the upcoming general elections in December.
This call to action came during the inaugural meeting of the Inter-Party Dialogue Committee, (IPDC) held on the theme: "Together We Can Build Ghana, So Get Involved." Joseph Owusu Koranteng, the Atiwa West District Director of the NCCE, delivered a presentation on the critical issues of disinformation, misinformation, and monetization in politics.
He explained how these factors could influence public opinion, sway voting behaviours, and ultimately undermine the integrity of elections.
He stressed the detrimental effects of misinformation and disinformation, noting that they lead to an erosion of trust in the electoral process. "When voters are exposed to false information, they may become skeptical of the information they receive, leading to confusion and doubt about the legitimacy of election outcomes," he said.
