Authorities at Agona Swedru Senior High School have suspended 25 final-year students indefinitely after a violent altercation reportedly sparked by a same-sex relationship proposal between two male students.   According to school officials, the conflict began when one student allegedly expressed romantic interest in a fellow male student.

The proposal was rejected, but what followed quickly escalated into a broader confrontation.

Reports indicate that the student who turned down the proposal confided in his friends, who then advised him to play along and set the other student up.On the day the two were meant to meet, a group of students - reportedly friends of the one who had been approached - allegedly ambushed and physically assaulted the student who made the proposal.

In what seemed to be an act of retaliation, the assaulted student then involved his dormitory mates, leading to a second wave of attacks.
