The government has announced plans to intensify the "Operation Halt" initiative, led by the Ghana Armed Forces, as part of ongoing efforts to tackle illegal mining.

This phase of the operation will include collaboration with the Small-Scale Miners Association of Ghana, focusing on protecting river bodies and forest reserves from mining activities.

The government reaffirmed that these areas remain off-limits for mining and called on all stakeholders to join the fight against illegal mining.
