Accra-based Broadcast Journalist, Dr Pounds born Maximous Mensah has questioned why those in galamsey-affected areas aren't demonstrating against the deteriorating water bodies.

Speaking in a one-on-one interview with Amansan Krakye, he said it's quite shocking and surprising that all the demonstrations are happening in Accra. "The places where the galamsey activities are happening and destroying our water bodies I've never seen them demonstrating and it's shocking. "Those very close to the water bodies which have changed colour to brown, I don't see them complaining or demonstrating which is very surprising. "I keep asking myself if there are no galamsey concessions around where the water bodies are being destroyed and so I wonder why they are quiet," he asked on Property FM in Cape Coast as MyNewsGh.com sighted. "Because if you are closer to where the menace is going on and we are here in Accra saying that we need proper or clean water because our water is spoiling so those being affected in those areas can't they also take a permit to do some of the demo.

He disclosed "It means that they are probably enjoying the benefits of the galamsey which is destroying our water bodies that's why they're not complaining".
